The Eileen Bolt Memorial Recital
This annual recital was instituted shortly after Eileen Bolt’s untimely death in 1977 at the age of only 61 years. Eileen was greatly involved with the Bournemouth Music Competitions Festival from 1949, first as a Deputy Secretary and then as General Organising Secretary from 1956. She was also the Southern Area Secretary of the National Association of Music Competition Festivals.
For many years she was Secretary of the Bournemouth Association of Organists and was elected to the Executive Committee of the Incorporated Association of Organists. A competent organist in her own right, Eileen was also in demand as a deputy organist in Bournemouth. Eileen often accompanied the children’s choir of ‘Little Church’ (now St. Andrew’s Chapel) at Richmond Hill St. Andrew’s URC. It was her keen interest in promoting the love of music among young people that led to the establishment of this annual recital which is always given by an Organ Scholar by invitation from the association.
