The Oxford Music Festival - 2007The Oxford Music Festival takes place over two weekends January 2007. This event has been a fixture of the Oxford music scene for a good number of years and is well respected by the musical community. OMF has had a organ section for the past couple of years which the ODOA has awarder a £30 prize - The Michael Popkin Award for the highest mark in the competitive classes. Many of the ODOA members enjoyed entering the non-competitive class as a spur to practice and to gain an objective assessment of their playing from the excellent adjudicator. In 2006, there were three organ classes:
The Festival has to date used the two-manual Hill & Son organ (1860) organ at All Saint's, Lime Walk, in Headington but there are plans to secure the use of a different organ for the future events. Members of the ODOA are encouraged to enter, to encourage their organ playing friends to enter or just come and listen in support and encouragement those that do enter - particularly the few younger players. As we all know there is nothing like playing well to an understanding and sympathetic audience. |
