Programme 2006

The 2006 programme of events is (Specifications of the organs can be found by clicking the links in the programme. These have been obtained through  public web sources such as the NPOR):

Friday, 13th January 7.00pm for 7.30pm: ODOA Dinner at St Edmund Hall, Oxford.
Saturday, 28th January 12:40 pm onwards: Oxford Music Festival Organ Classes, All Saints' Church, Lime Walk, Headington. Hill & Son organ (1860) moved and rebuilt in 1986.
Saturday, 18th February 10.30am - 3.30pm: The ODOA Organ Workshop on North German music with David Sanger in Pembroke Chapel (Orgues Létourneau Ltée, 1995). 10.30am - 3.30pm. Fee £12 payable on the day.
Monday, 13th March 7.30pm: Visit to the Frobenius (1965) organ at The Queens College.
Friday 21st  to Tuesday 25th April The 2006 Oxford Organ Tour: a visit to Denmark and southern Sweden. Visiting organs in Copenhagen, Malmo, Roskilde, Halsingborg and Helsingor. Sunday, 21st May Vespers at Greyfiars has been cancelled - insufficient choir numbers to make it viable

Invitation from Graham and Jane Ashley-Carter to an afternoon play their Drake House Organ at The Manor House, Newington: 3.00pm -5.00pm. The Manor House is very near the Church in Newington.

Saturday, 10th June Visit to St Anne's Limehouse for the opening recital by Thomas Trotter on the restored Gray & Davison organ (1851). Symposium (£10 advance orders to include light lunch); Recital (£10). Tickets from: Care for St Anne's, 5 Newell Street, London E14 7HP (020 7987 1502). Contact  John Brennan if going to combine travel.
Thursday, 22nd June 7.00pm: Visit to the newly restored organ at the church of St Helen Abingdon (Harrison & Harrison 1927, 2005) with supper at Crown & Thistle after. Please let Corinna Redman know if you are going to attend - just so we can let the hotel know numbers.
Saturday, 1st July Trip to Birmingham to visit Symphony Hall (Klais, 2000). Visit will depend on rather last minute availability of the organ - the orchestra gets first call. Please let Corinna Redman know if you are going to attend.
Saturday, 23rd September 2.00-4.30pm: Organ concerto workshop directed by John Wellingham.  An opportunity to play movements from organ concertos by Handel. A string quartet has been arranged to participate but the venue has yet to be fixed. Costs: £15 for players; £5 for listeners. First come - first served. Please let Corinna Redman know if you are going to attend.
Tuesday, 3rd October 7.30pm: Evening visit to Christ Church Cathedral to play the Rieger (1979) organ.
Saturday, 28th October Private session on the Organs of the Early English Organs Project. Details to follow.
Monday, 13th November 7.00pm for 7.30pm: ODOA Annual General Meeting at Greyfiars Hall, Iffley Road.  Refreshments will be served.
Oxford Music Festival,  January 2007 The Oxford Music Festival will happen again in January/February 2007. Put it in your diary and encourage local organist to participate.
