Simon Bertram M.Mus, BA(Hons), ARCO, ARCM was born in Scotland and began learning the piano at the age of eight. He studied at Fettes College, Edinburgh, The University of East Anglia, Norwich, and the Royal Academy of Music, London. While he was at college his skills as a repetiteur led to much work accompanying the University operatic societies and to concert engagements.

Having obtained his M.Mus degree, Simon joined the DECCA record company as digital tape editor. He resigned from DECCA in 1992 in order to continue his studies with Michael Newton, Jane Parker-Smith, and Nicholas Kynaston. He has given organ recitasls in many Cathedrals in Britain and in Paris.

In 1992 Simon won the second prize in the interpretation competition at the International Organ Festival, and also the prize for the best performance of the work in the competition. In 1994 he was a semi-finalist in the 14th Chartres International Organ Competition, and in 1995 he reached the semi-finals of the 1st International Competition held by the city of Paris.

Simon's debut CD "From Ste. Clotilde to the Sacre-Coeur" generated much interest in both the player and the new Rieger organ in St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh.

Simon at one time freelanced as a pianist and organist, working with professional musicians as well as students, and in 2002 he held the position of Director of the fringe events of the Three Choirs Festival, which was based at Worcester. Simon has also been the assistant organist of Cirencester Parish Church, but is currently the Sub-organist of Worcester Cathedral. When not involved with music he very much enjoys cooking.
