Christopher Regan B.Mus FRAM, FRCO, HonRCM has had a distinguished musical career. He was a chorister at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, then attended Cranleigh School, and finally the Royal Academy of Music, where he won prizes for organ playing, bassoon playing, and aural training. He has in turn been the organist of St. James Church, St. Marylebone, the Music Master at Sedbergh School, the Conductor of the Kendal Choral Society, the Director of Music at Liverpool College, the Organist of St. James Church, Westgate-on-Sea, and the organist of the Honourable Society of Lincolns' Inn. He was appointed Professor of the Royal Academy of Music in 1963, was Senior Tutor in 1969, then Director of Studies in 1973, and finally he became the Dean of the Royal Academy of Music in 1989. Until a few years ago he was an Examiner of the Associated Board, and was President of the Royal Academy of Music Club from 1980-1981. He gained his FRCO (1952), B.Mus. (1955), FRAM (1969), and Hon RCM (1977). He has now retired and is living in Teweksbury with his wife Daphne.
He has been a member of the Gloucestershire Organists' Association since moving into this county, and was nominated by the Committee as Chairman Elect at the AGM in January 1998 and he was appointed without election as there were no other nominations. From this postition he automatically became Chairman of this Association at the AGM in February 1999. The Chairman moves on to Immediate Past Chairman after a two-year term of Office, and he keeps that position for a further year, making a four-year term of duty altogether.
