Gloucestershire Organists' Association

The object of the Association is to advance the education of the public in the study of the art of music, with special reference to liturgical and serious organ music, and the instruments on which to play it.

The Area in which the Association operates is the County of Gloucestershire.

The Association is a registered charity number 1091795

The Association was founded on 15th February 1947 by Frederick Gaydon, the Manager of Messrs Price organ builders. The first President was Huskisson Stubington, who held the post until 1966. The first Treasurer was Reg. Morris, who held the post for 21 years.

Meetings are held normally once each month, with the exception of August and December. They follow the pattern that the AGM is held in January or February, the Annual Dinner is normally held in March, a Summer Outing by coach is held in June, and the Chairman's evening is held in November. Visits to interesting organs are held on the other months.

A Newsletter is sent to all members before each meeting, to give members details of the programme, and to tell them how to get to the venue.

Click on "Secretary" in the index in the left hand frame of the Home Page to contact the Secretary if you want to know details of any organ vacancies in our area. The Secretary also keeps a list of those Members of the Association who are prepared to teach the organ, and also a list of those Members who are prepared to deputise.
