| ||'The primary goal of the project is to establish virtual, playable tonal documents of original instruments in appreciation of their famous organ builders, such as Silbermann, Schnitger, Gabler, Cavaillé-Coll, Ladegast, Memel and numerous others. All aspects of the original instruments are preserved as much as possible, especially the original room ambience and reverberation, wind fluctuation, the manual und pedal key action and blower noise.|
'The author has great appreciation for pipe organ builders and their work and would like to emphasize, that these virtual instruments are not intended to be a substitute for original pipe organs, especially in church rooms, as regulated by licence agreement. The purpose of these recordings is to provide the capability to virtually play famous instruments in their original room ambience. It will also give a deeper insight into the fine art of organ building and the importance of preservation these trade.'

| ||'GENPO is the GENeral Purpose Organ. It replicates the essential features of any pipe, theatre, or reed organ.|
'GENPO reads a description of an organ (a .org XML file) and presents a suitable user interface for operating that organ. There are a number of high quality organ SoundFonts freely available and the .org file maps the stop sounds to organ divisions, manuals and stops. Other facilities such as couplers and presets are available. You may connect one or more MIDI keyboards to GENPO to provide the organ manuals, you can also assign one to be the 'pedalboard'.
'GENPO is free, Open Source software.
'The program was written as a result of the author trying some other 'virtual organs' and having a hard time either getting them installed, or using them. The philosophy behind the program is to combine a natural interface with full functionality. GENPO does not try hard to look exactly like an organ console - but an organist should feel instantly at home when presented with the console...'

| ||'The jOrgan, (Java Organ), software lets you use your computer as a full featured virtual organ or as an extremely powerful keyboard workstation. Virtual Pipe Organs aren’t necessarily designed to replace an actual pipe or electronic organ, however, they can be used very effectively as a very low cost practice organ with the addition of a couple of readily available low cost “Midi” Keyboards and pedals. If jOrgan is added to an existing Pipe or Electronic Organ’s console it can add a tremendous amount of new sounds and features that previously cost many thousands of dollars with proprietary “Digitally Sampled Sound Modules”. In addition, the jOrgan Virtual Pipe Organ can also completely replace or augment the analog voices in a huge number of existing older electronic organs for a fraction of the cost of a new Digital Organ!'|

| ||'One frequently-asked question on PIPORG-L (the Internet mailing list for pipe organ matters) is how to build a MIDI-based pedalboard, or how to equip an existing pedalboard with MIDI. Usually, the purpose is to provide a pedalboard that can be used with one or more electronic keyboards for home or practice use. I built myself a 27-note flat parallel pedalboard with a MIDI interface to use with my Yamaha Clavinova ...'
